Self - Contentment
This is the story of an indefatigable man, a struggler who trusted
in his efforts and because of his endeavor and guts he set up a group of
companies. He had succeeded in what he set for himself and in quest of
achieving the target he faced immense hurdles, impediment, quest of target
didn’t deter him in his mission. His hungry for wealth and property did not let
him sleep, he wanted to become one of the richest and in search of it he didn’t
hesitate leaving his fundamental he was nurtured on. He had once heard that
honesty is not best policy in business, Business stands on half truth and half
lies, shrewdness, dexterity, bit hypocrisy are some of the basic mantra of
accumulating wealth. He always kept abreast this mantra and perhaps that was
why he had been being enumerated one of the rising stars in business community.
He was pragmatic, positive, gutsy and enthusiastic in his mission.
He had potential to surpass his competitors since he didn’t want to lag behind
in pursuing the tenet of shrewdness, hypocrisy a powerful wherewithal to climb
up the ladder of success. Nabeel Athar, owner of a small sport shop set up small
scale manufacturing unit of Badminton Cork. When he established the unit he was
ridiculed by his friends for his venture but he was confident in his
initiative, his business venture, his business alacrity begun to give the
result, gradually he begun to capture the local market, his brand became
popular among badminton players all over the country With the passage of time
his brand had succeeded in making a monopoly not only in the country but he had
become one of the main exporters of sports items. With the rise of his business
he kept opening new offices one after another in major cities. Nabeel Athar had
established himself a shrewd businessman. He didn’t lag behind imitating other business
stalwarts in expansion of his business. The more he spread the wings of his
trade, the more greed for more would inspire him to do something his conscience
at times didn’t permit.
Even after achieving so much, his desire to get more sometimes put
him dilemma He had accumulated immense wealth, property, all the luxury a
person could dream. When Nabeel would
look around in the circle he found himself lacking which could pacify his
desire. His journey from rag to rich could not quench his thirst for more when
he evaluated himself. When He engrossed in thought of the journey from a simple
shop into group of companies he found something still missing in his account of
business journey. He was so positive
that he believed in the saying “Sky is the limit” Perhaps that was main reason
he found his account still incomplete therefore he was religiously persistent
in his mission. Nabeel Athar had everything, status, fame, money and property but
desire for more had strayed him away from the path of peace, solace. He
although was not behind in Charities work but that gesture was for him was one
of a business strategies to promote his
companies
One evening Nabeel was engrossed in some serious thought on his way to residence from office. His
chauffeur that evening deviated from normal route usually they used to travel
as the main road was blocked due to repairing. Their luxurious car was moving on
six feet wide rutted, dingy lane. Chauffeur slows the car as people were
standing by the road to listen speech in a religious congregation. Nabeel peeped at congregation through wind screen. He
rolled down wind screen unconsciously to take closer look at gathering. A
roaring voice of religious orator pierced through his ears.
Prophet Mohammed said “Richness
does not mean having a great amount of property, rather true wealth is
self-contentment”
Religious Orator was giving reference of Saheeh Bukhari-Vol 8:book76 &453
Religious
Orator further continued “ If
the son of Adam( the human beings) were given a valley full of riches, he would
love to have a second one; and if he were given the second one, he would love
to have a third, for nothing satisfies the belly of Adam’s except dust of the
grave. And Allah forgives he who repents, turns to Him”
Nabeel
Athar rolled up wind screen. Car was moving away slowly from the congregation
place. He rested his head back on his seat, recalling his childhood days when
he had read a lesson from his father, a religious man “ Doing business is sunnat of Prophet Mohammad” Nabeel picked up plastic folder lying beside him,
gave cursorily look at the papers of two
units of steel plants which he had decided to buy.
Car
had entered into the gate of his bungalow but the words of Self-Contentment was
still haunting in Nabeel Athar’s mind. He wanted right interpretation of
Self-Contentment in his own perspective since he had everything that could
bring happiness and satisfaction for him yet he was running after getting
contentment, a happiness and satisfaction which he knew apparently has no limit in materialistic age. Perhaps
Nabeel Athar was believer in the saying “ Sky is the limit” That was why he didn’t want to delve into the relation
between richness and self contentment he
wanted only thing how to become the most successful businessman among business fraternity……………….
